Be spontaneous. - Being adaptable to changing conditions is key to enjoying yourself AND seeing the best foliage. 3. Google Maps - Download offline maps. Signals can be spotty and you’ll want to be able to navigate to other spots if your planned spots aren’t hitting 🍁. 4. Use Google Earth to get an idea of how a location will look. 5. Use the geotag feature here. Click on the geotag of a location and look through recent pictures. Look for photos taken by non-photographers. The dates should be under the caption. If you’re feeling adventurous, introduce yourself, say hi, and ask how recently the shot was taken. 6. Use the save feature to save future spots. It looks like a bookmark on the bottom right-hand side of photo posts. 7. Keep your devices charged. You’ll need them. If your phone is constantly looking for signal, it’ll die faster. 8. Ask a local. New Englanders are among the most friendly people I’ve encountered in my travels. 9. Bring a bright colored jacket or hat to make your pictures pop more. 10. Follow your favorite photographers stories. They’ll probably be dropping real-time clues to which areas are popping. 11. If you’re shooting on mobile and feeling inspired, shoot in RAW mode to grab more details from your scene and download @lightroom Mobile and experiment with editing. 12. Check foliage maps. 13. Check the weather. A rain storm can easily change the foliage conditions overnight. 14. Shoot at sunrise and sunset for the best light. If it’s cloudy, that’s not a bad thing. foliage pics look better when it’s cloudy because the sun washes out the color. 15. Leave no trace. Places have been and will be shut down if you’re not responsible. Ex: The road to Sleepy Hallow is closed to this year. We did that. 16. Avoid private property.
